Launching the United Communists of Europe

The United Communists of Europe is a network of communists across Europe who are trying to build a new communist party. Our primary task is to unite the working class and transform it into a force that can overthrow capitalism. We are revolutionaries who struggle for a socialist revolution that can bring about a socialist state, in which the working class holds state power and drastically transforms society. We take inspiration from the former socialist countries, such as the Soviet Union and the Peoples Republic of China. We look to present-day socialist Cuba as an example of what working people can achieve when they take state-power and embark on the socialist road. The Cuban Revolution, which has been under attack for over seventy years by the imperialists, continues its long march to free not just Cuba but the oppressed peoples of the global South. Our organisation supports the strategic alliance between the international working class and the oppressed peoples of the world. Our anti-imperialism sees the working class as the key force to breaking imperialism's hold over and liberating the masses.

The United Communists of Europe unites with social movements that are confronting racism, transphobia, misogyny and national oppression. We call for an alliance between the working class and the peoples movements to transform society. Our organisation thinks that much can be gained when communists participate in these struggles while respecting their leadership. We must show that we are the best organisers in order to win the popular masses to our side. This requires honesty, discipline, transparency, and respect for those whom we are working with.

Fascism represents a real danger today. Across Europe, far-right movements aligned with fascism have grown and taken power: Wilders in the Netherlands, Meloni in Italy, and Orban in Hungary. Fascism represents the organised terror of capital and the bourgeoisie's fight to totally destroy the organisations of the working class. Due to the crisis of monopoly capital and a significant weakening of revolutionary socialist organisations, many layers of the petty-bourgeoisie and some workers have turned to fascist organisations. To break the appeal of fascism, we must build a popular movement that results in a mass workers party that can mobilise millions against capital. It must reinvigorate revolutionary Marxism by creating a vibrant and dynamic culture of discussion and theoretical practice. We cannot wait for this to happen, as all the signs point to a decline of the Left around Europe. Therefore, we must join the popular movements against fascism, which involves exposing fascists wherever they try to organise, disrupting their events, and making it impossible for them to spread their poisonous ideas.

We put a high value on theoretical discussion. The primary theorists of Marxism are Marx, Engels and Lenin, but also Mao Tse-Tung, Leon Trotsky, Charles Bettelheim, Nicos Poulantzas, Louis Althusser, and the Monthly Review School (Paul Sweezy, Paul Baran, John Bellamy Foster, and Intan Suwandi). The historical experience of the Soviet Union and other socialist states (i.e. the GDR, the PRC, etc.) contain valuable lessons for the working class. Despite many contradictions these were socialist social formations that show what is possible in transitional workers' states. While they may have been on the capitalist road–as both Trotsky and Mao showshow–they offer valuable lessons to the working class. We think it is important to look at many sources when studying the socialist countries in order to gain a clear understanding of them.

If you are a communist and want to be part of a movement that is trying to end capitalism, the United Communists of Europe might be a good group for you.

Down with imperialism and the bourgeoisie!

Down with racism, transphobia, misogyny and all forms of oppression!

Unite the working class and build a fighting workers movement!

For socialist revolution everywhere and a united socialist Europe!

For an international communist world!

Statement on the Fall of the Assad Regime

In recent days, Syria has undergone major transformations with the fall of the Assad regime. The United Communists of Europe is closely monitoring the situation and gathering information in order to produce an analysis of the situation. This is a short statement that expresses our general orientation towards the situation in the Middle East. After being in power for more than twenty three years, Bashar al-Assad has been forcibly removed from power by Islamist militants of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). What began in Aleppo, resulted in a rapid fall of the long-standing Ba'athist regime and the ousting from power of Bashar al-Assad. It should be noted that Assad's party, the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, ruled through a coalition called the National Progressive Front, which included a number of Nasserite groups and two communist parties. Ba'athism is an ideology that fuses Arab nationalism with elements of socialism. In its different forms, both in Iraq and Syria, Ba...

May Day 2025

The Central Committee of the United Communists of Europe sends its warmest May Day greetings to the working people of Europe. International Workers Day is a day to commemorate the struggles of the international working class in its struggle against the bourgeoisie. It is not just a workers holiday, but an international recognition of the class struggle and the irreconcilable differences between capital and labour, between oppressor and oppressed, between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. May Day is a day of international working class solidarity in its struggle against the imperialist bourgeoisie and monopoly capitalism. It is a day to make calls for socialist revolution and a communist future that puts an end to all forms of oppression.  On May Day, workers around the world will march through their cities in demonstrations often led by reformists and class collaborationists. In Europe, most of the trade unions are led by bureaucratic officials who prefer diplomacy, using strike...

The War in Ukraine and the Road to Socialist Revolution

In this article, we analyse the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, arguing that it is a conflict driven by imperialist rivalry, competing bourgeoisie factions, and broader capitalist realignment.      The war is essentially caused by NATO’s eastward expansion, which triggered Russia to take action to take control of its westward border. By foregrounding the class interests that influence state policies and military interventions, it can be demonstrated how both the US and the Russian Federation perceive Ukraine as a strategic lever for securing energy pipelines, arms markets, and spheres of influence. Due to this the Russia–Ukraine war should be understood not as a struggle between a revanchist Russia and a besieged nation but as a clash between a semi peripheral capitalist country (Russia) and the US led imperialist encroachment of NATO over the former Soviet Republics and parts of Europe. According to our analysis, Russia does not meet Lenin’s definition of finance-capital-dom...
